Valencia is also located in the heart of one of the most fertile regions in Europe where fields are bursting with crops like oranges and lemons, rice and more.
Currently, Valencia is the third largest economic center, thanks to its automotive, chemical, metallurgy, furniture, agriculture and of course tourism. Thanks to the modernization of its port in the 80s, port activity has become a very important activity and, in 2015, Valencia was the first in Spain in terms of container traffic, with 4.6 million containers.
According to Valencia City Hall Statistics Office, in 2019 there were over 100,000 non-Spanish nationals living in the city, representing about 13% of the metropolitan population. In 2020, it was ranked the best city in the world for expats in a study of more than 66 global destinations.
